There is no DVSA fake news about learner drivers being allowed to drive alone; the claims that have appeared on social media are false. It is illegal for a learner driver to drive unaccompanied, and they must be supervised by a qualified instructor or a full license holder over 21 with at least three years' experience. Driving solo as a learner can lead to a £1,000 fine, penalty points, insurance invalidation, and potentially a ban.
